Why buy your bike from RDG Cycles?

  1. Every athlete that commits to purchasing their bike from RDG gets measured to ensure that the frame selected will be bio-mechanically correct.
    • Most of the customers who schedule fittings were sold the wrong size frame.
    • You save money and valuable riding time due to the mere fact that the bike will fit your physical dimensions.
    • You won’t have to hassle with getting rid of a recently purchased bike in order to get one that actually fits.

  1.  Regardless of how much you spend, the bicycle will be properly fitted to your specific requirements.
    • Buying the correct size frame is just the start. We then proceed to make sure that your feet, hands, and butt are in perfect alignment.
    • If necessary, we will make component changes (stem, handlebar, saddle, etc.) to further customize your body to your new bike. Most cyclists end up collecting different types of stems, handlebars, and saddles trying to find that sweet spot.  You won’t have to.

  1. Value and Service.
    • All bikes purchase come with a service plan to ensure that bike is always shifting and braking properly.
    • Depending on the current promotions, parts and accessories will be discounted 1 year from the date of purchase.  Please call for further details.

  1. Commitment to the Cyclists.

·         From an objective standpoint, there is no bicycle shop in the Inland Empire more suited or better equipped to properly fit you to your bike than RDG Cycles.

·         The whole shop is a fitting area. Complete with Computrainers, Motion Analysis Software, Cameras, and fitting tools too numerous to list. The shop does not look like your typical bike shop because we’re not out just to sell bikes. We’re here to help you find the best bike possible given your physical characteristics and your budget.

More important to the athlete/rider, is my full commitment to whoever walks in the shop. RDG trully values every opportunity that is given, as such, nothing is taken for granted. Wether your purchasing your first bike to creating your custom dream bike, the ultimate test will be how the bike rides and fit. That's it.....

I recently purchased a new Giant bike at RDG where I met the owner Marvin. Marvin is very knowledgeable about his products. The first thing about buying a bike here is it will take awhile. Marvin fits you for your bike like a tailor fits you for a suit. He takes multiple measurements and does the calculations. He also will discuss the way you ride to make sure your bike fits your style and goals. Then he will order your bike. Your patience is rewarded when you get exactly what you want. When it comes in set aside some time again. He will put it together for you and then have you come in and will tweak the bike till it perfectly fits you. Then he will take you on a Road test to help you get familiar with your new bike and to once again check for fit. In my case this was about a 9 mile ride. Since I have had my bike I have called Marvin a few times about after market products and he is always helpful and willing to answer my questions.
Also if you just want to get your current bike tuned up and to fit you better he provides that service as well. Check out his web site.

Back to School. Paul Levine's Signature Cycles Fit School. That Is!

I was never one for school. Unless the subject matter is one that really intrigues me. So when the opportunity arose to attend Paul Levine's Signature Cycles Professional Bicycle Fitting Seminar came about, I jumped at the chance. Forget about the fact that I'm a "One" man shop. The chance to get on hand instructions from one of the pioneers of the bicycle fittings was going to benefit, not only me, but the athletes that approach me for bicycle fittings. Plus, I had a great time in Manhattan's Upper West Side.  The pictures to the left are of Paul Levine and Dr. Pam Wilson.  The ones on the right were of students taking part of the fit seminar.

Jim's New Orbea Onix (Sort Of....)

My story may be a bit different from the others in that I already had a good road bike when I found RDG.  My full carbon Orbea Onix had served me well for commuting and for Saturday morning club rides, but I had ongoing mechanical and comfort issues that other retailers had not been able to successfully address.

Although my bike rode smoothly, it always seemed to have a bit of flex to it and made a mysterious clicking noise every time I would ride out of the saddle.  Over the course of a couple of days, Marvin methodically switched various components in and out to isolate the source of the clicking.  Ultimately, he found there to be a defect with the crankset/bb and he worked with the manufacturer to replace the part.  No more clicking, and my bike feels stiffer than ever!

In terms of comfort, my riding position had always felt a bit cramped and the tips of my fingers would start to go numb on rides longer than one hour.  This, unfortunately, was my situation, despite the "professional" fit I had received at another retailer when I first bought my bike 3 years ago.  At RDG, without the slightest bit of a new bike hard-sell, and for a very reasonable charge, Marvin spent significant time and effort making several necessary adjustments to my current bike.  My riding position now feels much more natural, my hands no longer go numb, and I no longer feel cramped.  An added (and totally unexpected) benefit is that my body weight is now more appropriately distributed between the front and back tires, giving me far more control when cornering and descending.  Thank you so much Marvin.  I look forward to doing business with you again soon!    - Jim Wood, Huntington Beach, CA

Sr. Fred Chavez's Custom GURU Road Touring Special

Fred first came to RDG to get fitted on his steel Jamis. His fit was in desperate need of adjustments, as he was having trouble keeping the handlebar straight, even on the trainer. His current position was placing too much pressure on his shoulders, arms, and hands. He's been riding for over 20 years but has never been comfortable on his previous bikes. After two weeks of work, we found that "sweet spot" on the Jamis. As a result, he was able to finish the "Rosarito to Ensanada" bike ride with the greatest of ease. But the Jamis can only take him so far. So we decided to design a custom road bike that would be able to tackle some heavy touring and maybe even a little dirt in between. The bike you see below is the result of almost 3 months of collaboration. Fred's nickname is "Silver Burro".  His nickname and last name are forever etched on this frame. Special thanks to the folks at Spectrum Powdercoat for the beautifull etching work done on the frame.  As well has Jim Kish of KISH Fabrications for doing an excellent job on the custom rear rack mounts. Take a look at the specs.

Hi Marvin,
I just wanted to say hi, and also enter my feedback about your great service via this email.
"I highly recommend Marvin's bike shop. I have ridden mountain bikes just for fun here and there. As one of my plans is to prepare for my second triathlon, the need for an entry level road bike emerged.
My knowledge of road bikes is very limited, so I started to surf the net, and called all bike shops around the area. Most of the calls gave me the answer I needed as far as price and availability. When I called Marvin, however, he went beyond that and started asking questions about my riding style, for what purpose I'd be using the bike, and more. His friendly attitude and his knowledge of the topic made me think that this would be the bike shop I'd like to buy my bike from. My first visit to Marvin's bikeshop turned out to be a great lesson on biking. The visit started with having measurements taken to fit the bike to my body, and he was in no hurry to sell me any bike. I left the shop with a bike that I have started riding, and it feels VERY light... it's a lightweight bike, and I am very happy with my purchase. The added bonus with Marvin is that his friendliness and approachness makes it all easier to ask questions, have them answered honestly, and have the certainty that I can keep learning about gadgets and bike related items that would help in my biking experience without being ripped off.

If anybody asked me what I think about RDG Cycles and Marvin's service, I can use a few words to qualify it: Professionalism, attention to detail, excellent customer service, great follow-up (yes, the phone calls are still in place just to check if I am doing well with the bike rides, and/or if there are any discomforts that can be fixed), but the BEST trait Marvin's has is his willingness to help with good advice and his patience.

Thanks very much! I, for sure, am telling my friends about you and RDGCycles."

Monica.

Business as usual....

Buying a bike is never what it seems. When Matty first approached me about riding I got the sense that he wasn't messing around. He scheduled a sizing fitting session to dertermin the correct size and geometry. Then we went on a 1 hour plus test ride around Chino/Chino Hills to validate my recommendations. By the way, that was the longest ride he ever went on. After that, we went about selecting the proper components needed to make his bike (and budget) a reality. I pretty much had everything in stock except for a couple of things. But the build came thru really well. Then we went on a "confirmation ride" to make sure everything is where it suppose to be. Presto! We have a new rider that trully fits his bike! You're probably asking, "does he go through all these steps with everybike he sells?".  The answer is "YES"!  Matty had a budget around $1500.00. For that price he got an almost fully custom bike with the proper stem lenght, handlebar width & height, and more.  Within 3 weeks, he was ready to go with a clipless pedal system I got him on some Sidi Genius Carbons and Look Keo sprints. Then we determined he had slight foot varus on left foot. We were able to correct that with "Bike Fit Systems's Big Meat Wedges". All of a sudden he's spinning like Ekimov! It doesn't get any better than that.

I'm a 58 year old man who played football and ran track in high school. I also ran recreationally for 15 years participating in 5 & 10 K runs and 1 marathon. Now that I am in my Golden Years are upon me I needed to find an aerobic activity that was not stressful on my joints. I was convinced by my sister's husband, that cycling was the answer; I listened to them since they have been at it for 7 years. I did not know much about cycling. I rode recreationally purchasing bikes over the counter. Unfortunately, in retrospect I found out that the over the counter bikes never fit me properly thus I experienced much discomfort in my rides including numbness in my arms and hands. I came across the RDG website and Marvin, made an appointment for the fitting. From the initial meeting with Marvin, I was totally impressed by his caring approach, not to mention Marvin is totally knowledgeable of the cycling industry and science of cycling. There is no compromise, Marvin wants only the best for his customer; it's not always the most expensive piece of equipment or the best deal, to Marvin it's the accurate fitting and equipment that will benefit you. Because of my body type, Marvin fit me into a 72* Laid Back Geometry cycle. I have been riding three times a week for over a month now, riding in comfort and progressing week to week, my cycling experience has been a real positive experience. Next month Ojai! It's been a great experience working with Marvin. I have found a person that I can trust and has vast knowledge of the business and science of cycling. I will continue coming back to Marvin even though I will be relocating to Long Beach. I highly recommend RDG Cycles and Marvin who either is just beginning or have been riding for years.

Hey Marvin,

Before coming into RDG to meet with Marvin, I had been shopping and researching on road bikes for about a good month.  Many bike shops had I had walked into just informed me on my size and pointed out what bike would be the best fit for my price range.  In a sense, it only seemed like they were only trying to get a sale.  Enter Marvin. after being referred to by a few friends, I set an appointment to inquire about a bike.  Upon arriving fairly late, we got down to business and he started listening to my needs as far as what I was looking for and my price range.  The next step was taking my measurements, we went straight to it.  After measuring my disproportionate limbs, he put me on a bike mounted onto a trainer and started the fitment process.  We tried out about four bikes and found the right one for my taste and comfort level.  The price was far beyond excellent, but what intrigued me the most was the wonderful service he provides the bike with.  It was not just some sale to Marvin.  He was actually looking for the well-being of myself and his passion for cycling.  The very next morning I went for a bike ride along with Marvin.  The ride was AMAZING!  I am very pleased with his customer relations and service and would not have gone any other way upon finding him.  Not only did i find a great fitter, I found a great cyclist and friend.  Thank you Marvin for all your help!
