Riders Who Have Worked with RDG

I love a good deal probably just as much or more that anyone.. I first
called Marvin because I liked the way his business philosophy sounded –
buy a bike that really fits you, not just a good deal. I am a full time
working professional and try to ride mostly for fitness reasons. Marvin
spent a long time listening to my needs and then made several recommendations for
me.  I suffered from numbness in my hands and arms when riding prior to my
purchase with Marvin. He customized my set up to eliminate
this pain. I couldn't be more pleased with the final bike, a Giant. It fits
me perfectly and I am able to ride as far as my strength will take me.
Anyone surfing the net for a good deal may want to consider the benefits
of well fitted bicycle prior to making any purchase.

After only ten minutes of talking to Marvin, I knew he was going to build my first road bike. His passion for cycling is evident everywhere, from his enthusiastic greeting at the door to the myriad of beautiful bikes hanging on the walls like works of art in a museum. I was impressed by his mantra of “Fit first, ask questions about color later”. My fitting was a dedicated one-on-one session that was precise and thorough. He considered everything from my old ACL replacement to the 10 degree camber of my right foot!

When it came time to select the frame and components, I gave him my price limit and trusted in his imagination. He asked about my prior riding history [BMX since I was a kid, hard-core mountain biking from then on] and my intentions with the new bike [long, epic rides and organized road racing with a high probability of crashing], then set about gathering up the parts.

The bike he put together is a thing of beauty – it’s light but strong enough to hold up under pressure and fits so well that it virtually disappears beneath me on the road!!! Marvin even put Race Face cranks on it to, as he said, preserve some of my mountain biking heritage – plus the outward bound bearings make the cranks so stiff that the bike takes off like a rocket!

Marvin – I cannot speak highly enough about your service and attention to detail. Thank you for building such a wonderful machine. I am very proud to ride on the RDG frame and will recommend RDG Cycles to everyone.

My first ride on a road bike was on an “ebay special” bike my brother  bought.  Lucky for me, it was an okay fit.  I noticed though that I  was having a really hard time on the hills and my cycling buddies  would end up waiting for me.  It was pretty embarrassing.  I knew I  had to get a little better at riding if I was going to have fun.  For  the time being, my ass would hurt, my lungs would burn and my heart  would pound just trying to keep up.
I decided one day that I wanted to give cycling a real chance and  asked Marvin to fit me for one of his bikes.  We talked about the  type of bike that would be best suited for my weight and measurements  and decided on a steel frame from Soma.  It had a slacker angle that  seemed better for my body type and it had a bump soaking property  that would be forgiving enough for comfortable long rides.
Marvin got straight to work did his magic shimming my cleats, setting  me up on a wide set of handlebars and tweaking the bike to for great  handling and a great fit.
Since then, I’ve been able to just hop on the bike to go on rides for  as long as 3 hours.  I always come back spent, but not exhausted,  fatigued but not beat up… and the best part is that hills are doable  now, and I catch my breath on aggressive climbs in half the time.
I’m glad that I know a bike fitter like Marvin.  It looks like  cycling and me are going to get along after all.
